Ping Pong Underground (PPU) started in a dusty garage in north Sydney, Australia. Inspired by the ping pong scene in New York, the “Whaley boys," Puerto, Tim, Luke and Leon, brought Ping Pong Underground to the L.A. (Little Avalon) Bar every Wednesday night from September 23, 2009 to January 27, 2010. Check out their blog, A Whales Life.
Started in 2007, Naked Ping Pong, the brainchild of Jonathan Bricklin, Bill Mack, and Franck Raharinosy, was a weekly ping pong party in a 4,000 square foot Tribeca loft where a wide variety of ping pong freaks and geeks got together to battle it out. Among the professional players who attended the weekly events where Kazuyuki "Kaz" Yokoyama, aka the Kazmanian Devil, and Wally Green. A diverse group of players and spectators enjoyed tasty refreshments while celebrating their love of ping pong in New York's underground ping pong scene.
Round up your balls, grab your paddle and saddle up for Ping Pong Country. A union of ping pong, country music, graphic design and art installation, Ping Pong Country is the creative heart of the ping pong scene in Berlin. PPC hosts events throughout the year in Berlin and around the world that focus on cultural space and social relationship. Each event and environment is site specific and includes custom-made ping pong tables; 2 and 3-dimensional artworks; video projection; found objects; D.J.'s spinning swing, rockabilly, and country music; and of course ping pong. Remco Schuurbiers and Bijan Dawallu founded Ping Pong Country in 2001 and are the two main contributors. PPC was in its heyday from 2001 to 2007,but since 2007, while still hosting events, it has been less active.
